Carolyn Shafer

Carolyn Shafer, 70, of New Stanton, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. She was born July 17, 1946, a daughter of the late Averil Pickford and Margaret Vario Pickford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Troska, and her brother, Averil Pickford. Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Karri Burns, of Brownstown, Mich.; her grandchildren, Mercy Burns, Christopher Lopez and Jaime Melerts; her two great-grandchildren Jayden and Jacob Melerts; and her good friend, Diane McKee, of Pittsburgh.
