David Haykin

David J. Haykin, Jr., passed away on December 23, 2016, at age 86.  Mr. Haykin was a graduate of Purdue University (BS in Engineering, 1953) and the University of Michigan (MS in Engineering, 1957).  He served in the Air Force in Morocco from 1953-55.  He worked as an aeronautical engineer for the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory from 1957-1963, and for NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Center from 1963-1991.  He was a founding member of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Howard County.  He is survived by his wife, Georgeann Thomas Haykin, his sister Joan Haykin Weinstein, and his children Carolyn, Tom, and Marti Haykin.  A memorial service will be held at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center, 7246 Cradlerock Way, Columbia, MD  21045, on January 21, 2017, at 7pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Star Island Annual Fund (www.starisland.org) or the National Humane Society (nationalhumanesociety.org).
