David J. McNair, 82, devoted husband, super dad/grandad/great-grandad, proud son of Scottish immigrants, uncanny Donald Duck impersonator, and lover of life, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016. He was born on May 25, 1933, in Wilkinsburg, and moved to Greensburg in 1968.
David spent his career as an insurance broker, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg. He was a veteran and served with the Army. He was a lifelong member and past exulted ruler of the former Elks Lodge, Greensburg, and a member and former secretary of Greensburg AMVETS, Post 88. He was an avid supporter and booster of Greensburg Salem High School Football. His proudest achievement was the loving family he built with his high school sweetheart, Marjorie J. Bassett McNair. He always said that his kids were his hobby, so it's no surprise that he spent as much of his time as possible with them and their families.
David is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie J. Bassett McNair; his children, Joann Bauer (Richard), of Greensburg, Jill McNair (Patrick Mahoney), of Greensburg, David McNair (Vivian), of Florida, Scott McNair, of Pittsburgh, John McNair, of Greensburg, and James McNair, of Greensburg; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Joan Hurrell, of Penn Hills; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg. David's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church, 300 S. Main St., Greensburg, with the Rev. Martin Ankrum officiating. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Entombment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church at the above address or to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Whacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
