Donald Edward “Don” Stansak, 83, of Greensburg, died Monday, April 11, 2016 in Walnut Ridge Memory Care, Greensburg. He was born in Wyano on December 11, 1932, a son of the late John Stansak and Ida Edith Scarpari Stansak. He was a graduate of South Huntingdon High, Class of 1950 and a graduate of Penn State Extension with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to retirement, his last and most memorable employment was Senior Design Engineer with Master-Lee Engineered Products in Latrobe. He was formerly Plant Manager and VP of Manufacturing & Service at Federal Hose Manufacturing Corporation, Owner and President of Tooling Manufacturing & Service Corporation and HiTec Manufacturing, all of Painesville, OH. He was also Chief Tool Engineer at Teledyne Firth Sterling and Chief Tool Engineer at Kennametal, locally and Willoughby, OH, where he had several carbide tool patents. Along with his wife, he was also, Owner and President of Angela’s Pizza in Painesville, OH. Don enjoyed golfing and had a hole in one at Valley Green Golf Club. He loved to cook and made “killer meatballs”. In his spare time, he liked to do crossword puzzles. He was a wonderful woodworker and enjoyed making furniture for his family. His last woodworking endeavor was making Adirondack chairs for his daughters. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Steven W. Johns; beloved nephew, Billy Ziter; 3 sisters, Dolores Repovz, Mary Farrar and Joann Piovesan; and a brother, Edward Stansak. Don is survived by his wife of 38 years, Patricia Ann “Patti” Glunt Stansak; 2 daughters, Melanie Hearring (Pat) of Chesterfield, VA and Lisa Walker of Ocala, FL; a son, Kevin Stansak of Copley, OH; 4 grandchildren, Steven A. Johns, Marlea Lee, Mark Lee and Cody Hearring; 2 brothers, Henry Stansak of Jeannette and Eugene Stansak of Scottdale; his sister and brother in law, Linda and Bill Ziter, to whom he was indebted; 2 special people, Kimberly Durka (Lou) and Kathy Hydak (Rick); a number of nieces and nephews, especially nephew, Jeremy Stansak, his wife Jean and their daughter Megan and cherished niece Marlo (Ziter) Ayres; also, special friends, Vicki Havrilla and Maureen Krautz. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Sunday, April 24 from 12:30 until the time of service at 1:30pm at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg. The Stansak family would like to thank the staff of Walnut Ridge Memory Care, Caring Hospice and Seton Hill Adult Day Care, especially Sister Kathleen Gallagher, for their wonderful care of Don.
