James Long, Jr.

September 27, 1948 — July 30, 2017

James A. Long, Jr., 68, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 surrounded by his loved ones.  He was born in Greensburg on September 27, 1948, a son of the late James A. Long, Sr. and Edith Rose Long.  He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Parish, Greensburg and a member of Cercemaggiorre Organization, Greensburg.  Prior to retirement, James was a factory worker for PPG Industries.  He was a proud veteran and served as a Marine in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Michelle Long; a sister, Nancy Long; brother in law, Jack Omelite and 4 nieces, Jude Marie, Edith Elizabeth, Martha Ann and Jacquelin Marie Omelite.  James is survived by his children, Jennifer Renee Long of Greensburg and Debra Ann Howarth of Jeannette and James A. Long III of Mt. Pleasant; 2 sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Long Omelite and Connie Powell, both of Greensburg; 2 brothers, Thomas Long (Bonnie) of Greensburg and Richard Long (Marlene) of Trauger; grandsons, Joshua Williams (Laura), Daniel and Nathen Howarth; also, many nieces and nephews.  Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 3-7 PM at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg.  Parting prayers will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 12:30 PM followed by James’ funeral mass at 1 PM in Our Lady of Grace Church, 1001 Mt. Pleasant Road, Greensburg.  Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery with military honors accorded by members of VFW, Post #33, Greensburg.
