James Russell Martz, 79, of Greensburg died Wednesday March 1, 2017, in the loving arms of his wife and surrounded by cherished friends. He was born Nov. 7, 1937 in Export, PA, a son of the late Russell E. Martz and Mildred G. (Koch). In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert C. Martz. He is survived by his wife of 42 blessed years, Nancy (Hudak) Martz. He is also survived by in-laws Margaret (John) Dutchko of Elizabeth and Thomas Hudak (Pam Nilson) of Naples, Fl. He will be truly missed by nieces Donna, Diana, Debra and nephew Tom. James, Jim, aka "Jimmy", was employed by Greensburg Salem School District, prior to retirement. There, he and his many stage crew members originated the revolving stage and reenactment of the flag raising of Iwo Jima. His many interests included stage work, reading, boating at the Yough, and especially traveling with his wife and dog companions in their motor home. Although he endured many physical challenges throughout his life, it never prevented him from being a loving husband and a caring and devoted friend. His kind and helpful traits touched many people he met throughout his life. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 1-5 PM at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524, North Main Street, Greensburg. Jim’s funeral service will be held on Monday at 10am in the funeral home with Pastor Steve Morse officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association 112 Washington Pl, #1520, Pittsburgh, PA 15719-3458.
