Lorain R. Ghrist, 86, of Greensburg, died Thursday, February 18, 2016 in Amber House, Mt. Pleasant. She was born in Greensburg on February 20, 1929, a daughter of the late Joseph and Nora (Baker) Roehrig. She was a member of the Greensburg Church of the Brethren. Prior to retirement, she was employed by JC Penney in the stockroom. Lorain was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and took great pride in taking care of her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son and son Keith R. Ghrist; and siblings, Joseph, Marygale, Charles, Eleanor and Edward Roehrig. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Raymond D. Ghrist; her daughter, Karen L. Ghrist of Coraopolis, her son, Gary E. Ghrist of Portsmouth, VA, her daughter, Cheryl L. Ghrist of Houston, TX, and; grandchildren, Kristina McGregor (Bobby) of North Huntington, Samantha Bolin (Bryce) of Arlington, VA, Adam Ghrist (Victoria) of South Carolina; great grandsons, Jay McGregor, Wesley Bolin; sisters, June Jones (William) of New Stanton and Deanna Roehrig of Mt. Pleasant and a brother Tom Roehrig of Birmingham, AL; daughter in law, Diane Ghrist of Crabtree; also, several nieces and nephews. Lorain’s family would like to extend special thanks to Aimee and the fourth floor staff at Amber House for their loving care provided to Lorain during her illness. Also special thanks to Grane Hospice Care for their kindness shown and the excellent care given to Lorain.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday from 4-8 PM in Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main St., Greensburg. Additional visitation will be held on Monday from 10 AM until Lorain’s funeral service at 10:30 AM in Greensburg Church of the Brethren, 554 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Private interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
