Robert Glenn Williams Sr. (Bob), age 63, passed from this life surrounded by his family on March 6, 2011 due to complications from pancreatic cancer after a courageous battle. He was a beloved husband, father, pap-pap, and friend.
He was born in West Decatur, PA in Clearfield County on December 4, 1947, and attended Phillipsburg-Osceola Mills High School. He served his country in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. In 1973, he moved to Jeannette to marry his wife Becky.
He graduated from Westmoreland County Community College and worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Irwin as a mail carrier until his retirement. Bob was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ in Greensburg where he was an usher and member of the dartball team.
Dad was always one to lend a strong helping hand, a kind piece of advice, a joke, or a hug. He always made sure that his children knew he loved them and was proud of them. Bob loved classic cars, the Steelers, the Pirates, and NASCAR. Most of all he loved to be surrounded by his family, especially his grandkids who loved him like a best friend.
Bob was preceded in death his mother Mabel M. (Woodside) Williams, father O. Glenn Williams, father-in-law John J. Wall, step-mother Alice Jean (Mulhollan) Williams, and a step-sister Cheryl (Welker) Maines.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Rebecca J. (Wall) Williams, son Robert G. Williams, Jr. and his wife Tamson, daughter Kristen L. Blazavich and husband Michael, and two precious grandsons, Oliver Robert Williams and Rowan Alexander Williams. In addition he is survived by siblings, Kathleen M. (Williams) Conklin, Steven W. Williams and wife Sandy, Donald L. Williams and wife Norma, and step-brother James Welker and wife Bernice and step-brother Earnest Welker and wife Mona. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was blessed to have a wonderful mother-in-law Carolyn (Bender) Wall, and sister-in-law Patty S. (Wall) Bella, who provided many home-cooked meals for Bob which he thoroughly enjoyed. Bob was surrounded by many very special friends and family members, who were very kind to him during his long illness.
We love you and always will. We will be reunited on God's golden shore.
Family and Friends will be received on Wednesday March 9 from 2 to 4 pm, and 6 to 8 pm at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 N. Main St. Greensburg. Services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday 10:30 am with Rev. Steve Craft officating . Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park.
