Roger J. McCormick, 75 of Greensburg, died peacefully at his home in his sleep on Sunday, February 28, 2016.
He was born June 17, 1940 in Greensburg, PA, son of the late James P. and Mary Ellen (McDoungh) McCormick.
Roger worked at Main Bowling Alley before he married Carmella Wast. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Westmoreland Distributing as a truck driver.
He was a member of Maplewood Presbyterian Church. Roger was also a member of the Hilltop Club and VFW Post 33. He was an avid bowler who scored several perfect games. Roger loved watching the Steelers and Pirates, whether they won or lost.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James L., Daniel W., and Jack F. McCormick; and brothers-in-law, George Pastor and John Guidry and sisters-in-law Patricia (Murray) McCormick, Kathryn (Deemer) McCormick and Margie McCormick.
Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Carmella Marie (Wast) McCormick; children, Mellanie (Jeremiah) Williams of Youngwood, Jamie (Kim) McCormick of Norfolk, VA, Jennifer (Anthony) Walters of New Alexandria, Freda McCormick, and Tina McCormick both of Greensburg; grandchildren, Tyler, Mackenize, Logan, and Bryson Williams of Youngwood, Brayden and Reese Walters of New Alexandria, and Liam McCormick of Norfolk, VA; sisters, Theresa Guidry of Stonecreek, VA, Mary (Jerome) Eidemiller and Catherine Pastor all of New Alexandria; brother, Thomas McCormick of Melbourne Beach, FL; also, several nieces and nephews.
His family would like to give special thanks to Debbie Smith, Medi Home Health nurse, Eric Royer, Medi Home Health physical therapist, Lisa Jellison, Medi Home Health occupational therapist, Kelly Edwards, Medi Home Hospice nurse and everyone at the Greensburg Care Center.
Honoring Roger's wishes there will be no public visitation.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 11 at Maplewood Presbyterian Church, Greensburg at 11:00 am with Rev. Stephen M. LaSor officiating.
Interment will be in the St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg. Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, Greensburg in charge of the arrangements.
