Alberta Downes

Alberta E. Downes, 93, formerly of Crestview Acres in Jeannette died on Friday 12/20/2013 at Longwood in Oakmont. She was born in Scottdale on 6/22/1920 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Lulu Hough Forsythe. Alberta was a retired administrative secretary for Westmoreland Hospital Mental Health Department. She was a longtime member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeannette. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George R. Downes, a daughter Marian Zinzow and a sister Ardis Keener and a brother Donald Forsythe. She is survived by her children, Dennis G. Downes, Nancy Krivinko, David K. Downes, Daniel K. Downes and Ardis Schreiner along with her sister in law Thelma Forsythe and nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Honoring Alberts wishes there will be no public visitation. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday at 11 am in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 211 Gaskill Ave, Jeannette with Rev. Susan Luttner officiating. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donation to the Salvation Army in Alberta's memory.
