Alfonso Martinez

Alfonso A. 'King' Martinez, 89, of Greensburg, passed away, Monday, July 7, 2014 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.
He was born February 13, 1925 in Johnstown, PA, the son of the late Ana Luege Martinez and Raymond Amadio Martinez.
Alfonso was a WWII Army Veteran, serving in Europe in the 44th infantry division.
He retired from Adam Eidemiller Inc. as a welder. He enjoyed visiting his friends at Westmoreland and Indiana Malls. He was well known for his black cowboy hat.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Theda G. (Myers) Martinez in 2008, his sisters, Haydee Martinez, Lillian (Craig) Giron, and Anne Whigham.
He is survived by his son, Thomas and wife, Leslie Martinez of Cinnaminson, NJ, his daughter, Karen and husband, Kent of Greensburg with whom he had resided since his wife's death. He loved his five grandchildren, Nicole Platos and husband Oscar BlaA�quez of Valladolid, Spain, Michelle Byrd and husband Jeffrey of Myrtle Beach, SC , Stephen Platos and wife, Angela of Export, PA, Thomas R. Martinez of Cinnaminson, NJ, and Nicholas Martinez and wife, Laureen of Riverside, NJ.
He especially enjoyed being in the company of his five great grandchildren, Makenzi and Tyler Byrd, Olivia BlaA�quez Platos (and sister Martina who will be born in September) and Madison Platos.
He is also survived by his sister, Ophelia Murray of South Greensburg.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4& 6-8 pm in the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 N. Main St. Greensburg. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 10am with Rev. Chris Whitehead officiating.
Interment will be held in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
