Alma C. (Backus) Palmer, 84 of South Greensburg, Passed away , September 10, 2009 in RNC of greater Pittsburgh in Greensburg.She was born September 15, 1924 in Jeannette and was the Daughter of the late Frank and Leatha (Beaver) Backus.She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Greensburg, and the North Hempfield VFD Ladys Auxiliary. Alma enjoyed singing and spending time with family and friends at the family cabin "Palmers Paradise" in Potter County.She graduated from Jeannette High School Class of 1943.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Vernon "Bud" Palmer, a grandson Nathan A. Palmer, and her sister Dolores (Dee) "Honey" Radebaugh and a daughter- in- law Marion Holt Palmer.Alma is survived by her sons Gary V. Palmer and wife Janice , Gregg A. Palmer and partner Lisa Wineman, and Kevin J. Palmer and wife Cathy, all of Greensburg, Grandsons, Aaron Palmer, Adam Palmer, and Dan Palmer, a Granddaughter, Ashley Palmer of St. Petersburg, Florida, a Brother, William "Bill" Backus and wife Mary of Jeannette, and Several Nieces and Nephews.Family and friends will be received Sunday from 4 to 8 PM at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, Inc. 524 North Main St. Greensburg.A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, at 10:00 am with Rev. Steven Craft officiating with interment to follow in the Westmoreland Co. Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family knows mom would appreciate donations in her memory be made to the Humane Society of Westmoreland County , P.O. Box 1552, Greensburg, PA 15601, since she loved all animals, large and small.Terence L. Graft funeral director entrusted with arrangements.
