Alton Emmons

Alton Thomas Emmons, 98 of Greensburg, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born to a Quaker Family of six generations in this country on Thursday, November 23, 1911 in What Cheer, Iowa, Son of the late Wilson T. and Amy Penrose Emmons.
Tom was a graduate of the William Penn College in Iowa and later the Harvard Business School. He started his career with Price Waterhouse and had 25 years of service when he moved to the position of controller with West Penn Power Co in 1953 and worked till he retired as a Vice President of Finance for the former West Penn Power Co. in Greensburg.
After retiring Tom and his loving wife Mary Louise traveled to many parts of the world.
Tom was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greensburg. .
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Else Emmons and his parents and a son David , brothers Russell and Chester and sisters Ardith Williams and Mary Smith.
After his wife passed away Tom had moved to the Redstone Highlands community in Greensburg.

Surviving are his two Sons, John T. Emmons and James R. Emmons a granddaughter Molly Emmons and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 300 So. Main Street Greensburg on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 1 PM with Rev. Martin Ankrum officiating.

Entombment will be in the St. Clair Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Mary Louise Emmons Educational Fund % P.E.O. 3700 Grand Ave, De Moines, Iowa 50312.
