Betty L. Hamm
December 28, 1931 — March 20, 2024
Betty Lou Hamm, 92 of South Greensburg, passed away, March 20, 2024. She was born December 28, 1931 in Mount Pleasant, a daughter of the late Clark and Jessie (Knopsnyder) Palmer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merwin Hamm Jr. Surviving are her children, Sandra Grubb (Paul), Dr. Gregory Hamm (Wanda), and Wynn Hamm (Janet); grandchildren, Jessica Frazier, Craig Grubb, Kristen Grubb, and Christopher Hamm; and a sister, Guelda Ramsey. In addition, she is survived by nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Betty was a devoted mother and wife, finding great joy in caring for and raising her three children, and in assisting her late husband, Junior, with their assorted home improvement projects. In the late 1980s, with her children now grown, Betty found an outlet for her love of sewing and crafting by opening a small quilt/craft shop. The name of that shop, Five Generations, honored the fact that there were five living generations within Betty’s family, a rarity in which she took great pride. Following the death of her beloved husband in 1987, Betty devoted her life to her family. When her first great-grandchildren were born in the early 1990s, Betty stayed with her granddaughter Jessica, taking full responsibility for the care of three very active infants while Jessica went to work each day. In later years, Betty showed her unfailing love for family by caring for her ailing mother, Jessie, who lived with Betty until her death at age 94. Along with her family, Betty’s passing will be mourned by numerous friends at Charter Oak Church and her neighbors at Overview Place, all of whom will remember her gentle, loving nature. Family and friends will be received on Monday, March 25th from 4 to 7pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26th from 10am until the time of service at 11am in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville.
