Burt Russell Kihchel, 87, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011, in Westmoreland Manor. He was born April 8, 1924, a son of Oliver A. and Bessie (Sjoberg) Kihchel. In addition to his parents, Burt was predeceased by his brother, Oliver D. Kihchel; sister-in-law, Margaret (Woodward) Kihchel; and nephew, James O. Kihchel. Burt served in the 9th Army Air Force Division during World War II as a photographer on a B-17 bomber stationed in England. He was co-owner of the Kihchel Theatre in Jeannette in the 1950s and retired as a store manager from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board in 1981 to care for his brother's family. Burt delighted in growing beautiful orchids and completing crossword puzzles. He looked forward to every opportunity to take photographs and share his amazing photos with others. He will be lovingly remembered by Jay and Sue Woodward, family and friends. Family and friends will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg. Services will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Martin Ankrum officiating. Interment will follow in the Jeannette Memorial Park.
