C. Thomas ("Muskie") Komisak, 86 of Greensburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012.
He was born May 31, 1926, the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Kolesar) Komisak
Tom graduated from Greensburg High School in 1944 and was a graduate of Clarion State Teacher's College. He served in the US Navy during WWII on USS Bingham. He was married to loving wife Eleanor (Mizikar) Komisak on August 22, 1951.
He was employed as a school teacher for 35 years. The first 7 years of which were in Oil City, PA and the final 28 years were at Hempfield Area Senior High School in Greensburg, PA. During his career he also served as a football coach, golf coach, and Driver's Education instructor. Tom was a volunteer manager and coach for a championship West Point Little League Baseball team. He was social member and volunteer at the West Point Volunteer Fire Department and also volunteered with Meals-on-Wheels. Tom was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Greensburg, PA.
Some of his favorite hobbies included fishing, especially for trout and muskie, and playing golf in the Westmoreland Senior Men's Golf League at Cloverleaf Golf Club.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, George Comisak, sister, Irene Banks, sister, Helen Helman and brother, Raymond Comisak.
He is survived by his loving wife Eleanor, sister Mary Kazmir of Tennessee, sister Roseann Polet of Colorado and sister Patricia Marchiando of Texas.
Also survived by children: son Thomas and his wife Marlene of Steubenville, OH, son Terence and his wife Juanita (Johni) of Long Beach, CA, David and his wife Nancy of Toccoa GA, daughter Pamela DiNardo of Pittsburgh,PA, son Timothy and his wife JoAnn of Latrobe, PA and son John and his wife Michelle of Lapeer, MI.
Also survived by 10 grandchildren: Lance, Mark, Lauren, Kara, Marie, Ian, Rachel, Kelsey, Leah and Katie. He also has 8 surviving great-grandchildren Jonathon, Alexander, Kaitlyn, Cody, Courtney, Joshua, Kara, and Sara.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all of those who assisted in his care over the past several years.
Family and friends will be received on Friday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home (an authorized remembrance provider) 524 North Main Street, Greensburg, PA.
Services will held on Saturday at 10am at Our Lady of Grace Church 1011 Mt. Pleasant Road, Greensburg (everyone please go directly to the church).
Internment will follow at Westmoreland County Memorial Park where VFW Post 33 will perform full military honors.
