Catherine Christner

January 22, 1918 — October 6, 2010

Catherine L. Christner, 92, a resident of Redstone Highlands Greensburg and formerly of Scottdale, passed away, Wednesday, October 6, 2010.

She was born January 22, 1918 in Baggley a daughter of the late Harry and Mae (Waters) Lute.

Catherine was a member of St. John the Baptist RC Church, Scottdale and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Lambing #314. She was a former volunteer at Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant and enjoyed playing in several card clubs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Christner on Dec. 11, 1995 a sister, Jean Province; a brother, Harry Lute and a nephew, Russ Province (8/17/2010)

Catherine is survived by her daughters, Marianne Merlino and husband Patrick; Barbara J. Christner; Dianne L. Gale and Lisa Kay Barczynski and husband John; grandchildren, John E. Barczynski; Heather L. Barczynski; Kristen M. Barczynski and James E. Schuck III; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM in the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 N. Main St. Greensburg. Additional visitation will be held Friday from 8:30 am to 9:30 am the time of a prayer service in GRAFT-JACQUILLARD FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 303 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 am in St. John the Baptist RC Church, Scottdale with Fr. Richard Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. John's Cemetery, Scottdale. Memorials may be made to Redstone Highlands Benevolent Care Fund 6 Garden Center Dr. Greensburg, PA 15601. The family wishes to express its thanks to the staff of Redstone Highlands for the care and love they gave their mother and the support that was extended to her family through the years. Also our deep appreciation to Medi Home Hospice.
