Charles Andrew "Slugger" Danasko, 84 of Greensburg, formerly of Conemaugh, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born on December 5, 1930, in Conemaugh, PA, a son of the late Michael and Mary Makuchan Danasko, Sr.
Prior to retirement, he was the sports editor for the Harrisburg Patriot News Company. He was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Church, Johnstown and attended Community of Christ Church, Fayette City. He was an Army and Navy veteran and served in Korea. Charles enjoyed all sports and his wife's cooking. He loved people, animals and life in general and he especially loved serving God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Bertha and Mary Danasko and Anne Sherden; 2 brothers, John Danasko and Michael Danasko, Jr.
Charles is survived by his wife Janice Ruth Abbott Danasko and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday from 4-8 PM at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg.
Charles' funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:30 PM in the chapel of Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1530 Frankstown Road, Johnstown, PA. Entombment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one's local Humane Society.
