Charles W. "Lefty" Himler, 78 of Greensburg passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010 in Excela Westmoreland Hospital.
He was born Tuesday, January 12, 1932 in Ebensburg, Son of the late Charles W. Himler and Marie Palmer.
Lefty had served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greensburg..
He was recently retired from the maintenance dept. at the Westmoreland Co. Courthouse with 25 years of service and also 20 years of service with the Westmoreland Co. Community College maintenance dept.
He was an avid golfer having taken up the game late in life. Lefty loved chasing a golf ball around the course with his best friend Bill Berkmeyer.
He was preceded in death besides his parents by his brother William Cairns a sister Hazel Hall and father-in-law John H. Decker and numerous other siblings.
Surviving are his loving wife, Doris Ann Decker Himler and his children Kim Himler of Greensburg, Jeff Himler and wife Mary of Greensburg, Lenny Himler and wife Mary of Ellenton, Fla., Traci Himler of Greensburg, Mother-in-Law, Lorraine Decker of Greensburg, Grandchildren, Eric Himler and wife Bridget of Greensburg, Harley Himler of Greensburg, Alyssa Hall and husband Jared of Atlanta, Ga., Nicole and Monica Himler of Ellenton, Fla., Step grandchildren, Jason Tutich , Brian Tutich and wife Diane and Ricky Tutich all of Greensburg, Great grandchildren, Tristen and Claire Himler , Step great grandchildren , Alyssa, Santino, Owen and Nina Tutich, Sisters, Peg Little and husband George and Judy Miller all of Latrobe, Lucy Sheedy of Ft. Collins, Co., and Edith Spears of Gary, Indiana, Sister-in-law, Lois Cairns of Ligonier and numerous nieces and nephews. .
Family and Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 N. Main Street Greensburg.
Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Wednesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Robert Hawk officiating.
Interment with full military rites accorded by the VFW Post 33 will follow in the Westmoreland Co. Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorial donations be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, 140 South Pennsylvania Ave. Greensburg, Pa. 15601
