Charles Richard Ross age 95 years passed away May 21, 2014 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg.
He was born June 24, 1918 in New Kensington to the late Carl and Carrie (Uncapher) Ross. He married Freda Gladys Gullick November 2, 1941. She predeceased him January 11, 1999. Together they raised a son, Frederick Carl Ross.
Charlie attended Denby High School in Detroit, Michigan. He was drafted into the US Military and served the US Navy during WWII, 1943-1945. Serving as a proud member of the Traffic Safety Bureau, Detroit Police Department, Charlie had many entertaining stories of his days walking the beat, and riding a motorcycle escorting dignitaries and movie stars. He retired from the Police Department in 1966 and Charlie and Gladys moved to Mesa, Arizona, where they were avid golfers. Since 2002 Charlie resided at Redmont Village and Redstone Highlands. He enjoyed attending First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg, and golfing in the Westmoreland Senior Golf League at Clover Leaf Golf Course.
Charlie is survived by his son, Frederick Carl Ross and wife Cheryl Nelson of Freeland, MI, his brother Carl Ross of Greensburg, and a large extended family who loved and adored him, including 5 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on June 14, 2014 in the Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church 300 Main Street, Greensburg, PA 15601 beginning at 3:30pm until the time of the memorial service at 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Charlie's name may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg, or Redstone Highlands Benevolent Fund.
