Chester R. Kolk, 92 of Greensburg passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at his home.
He was born Sunday, August 4, 1918 in Akron, Ohio and was the son of the late Chester and Jennie Szalkowski.
Chester was a decorated WW II veteran serving in the United States Coast Guard as a Lt. JG. engineering officer in the Southwest Pacific.
He was a retired engineer for the GenCorp-Omnova Solutions after thirty five years .
He was a member of the Maplewood Presbyterian Church and the US-LST Association, Botanical Society of Westmoreland County and Gentiree Club of Akron, Ohio
He was preceded in death besides his parents by his wife Virginia Kolk on April 1, 2011.
Surviving are his two sons, Michael R. Kolk and wife Barbara of Massachusetts and David L. Kolk and wife Bernadette of Greensburg along with four grandchildren Stephen, Jennifer and Brandon Kolk and Nikole Sullivan and three great -grandchildren Jacob and Will Kolk and Reagan Sullivan.
Honoring Chester's wishes there will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday June 15 in the Maplewood United Presbyterian Church 108 Woodland Road Greensburg at 11am.
