Clara Carnes

Clara Y. (Granny) Carnes, 91 of Greensburg passed on Saturday 2/4/12 as she lived with grace and dignity . She has gone to meet the Lord. By her kindness to everyone she knew no strangers. Her home was always open and she became Granny to anyone who passed thru the doors. Clara's life on earth was spent preparing for this journey. She was born in Youngwood on 5/14/1920 and was the daughter of the late Paul and Philomena Yelinek. Granny was the former owner of the Redwood Restaurant before her retirement. She was a member of the South Greensburg United Methodist Church and the ladies auxiliary of the church. Also a member of the South Greensburg Civic Club. She had made over 400 cancer robes for the Arnold Palmer Cancer Center . She was preceded in death besides her parents by her husband Robert E. Carnes and two sisters, Pauline Rady and Florence Gardner, two brothers Clarence and Paul Yelinek and a great granddaughter Madeline Noel Small. She is survived by her children Roberta Hugus and husband Charles, Charles Carnes and former wife Janet Swankler and Patricia DeBone and husband Richard. Eight grandchildren Aimee Hogg, Bryan Hugus, Megan Small, Cori Kapusta, Sara Bates, Charles Blackburn, Jody Madden and Robert Carnes and sixteen great grandchildren Henry Hogg, Hadley Hogg, Zackary Hugus, Cole Hugus, Jacob Small, Benjamin Small, Samantha Small, Tyler Kapusta, Callie Kapusta, Lucia Bates, Rocco Bates, Nicholas Blackburn, Spencer Blackburn, Corey Fedler, Shay Madden and Embry Carnes. Two sisters Mildred Bishop and Helen Lambert and a sister-in-law Helen Yelinek. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, (an authorized remembrance provider) 524 N. Main St. Greensburg with additional visitation on Tuesday from 9:30 am till the time of the service at 10:30 am in the South Greensburg Methodist Church , 411 Sheridan St. South Greensburg with Rev. Ed Herald officiating. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland Co. Memorial Park. ( Please go directly to the church) In lieu of flowers the please make memorial donations to either the South Greensburg Methodist Church or the Westmoreland Food Bank, PO Box 599, Murrysville, Pa. 15668.
