Connie Mae Bender

Connie Mae Bender, 87, of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023, at St. Anne Home. She was born October 19, 1935 in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Paul and Sarah (Hellein) Gates.   

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her adventurous husband, Wayne H. Bender, her sister and brother, Nancy (Gates) Zello and William Gates and her grandson, Dillon W. Walton.   She is survived by two daughters, Tammy M. Bower (Ken) and Sheila A. Albright (Butch) both of Greensburg. Three grandchildren Shalane Baker (Josh), Kelley Seyler (Steven), Autumn Sutty (Ian), three great grandchildren, Kendall Baker, Caiden Baker, Izzek Seyler and several nieces and nephews. 

Connie was married to Wayne for 40 years.  She shared in running their business, Wayne Bender Trucking.  She loved vacationing with her family and friends.  Connie loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent as much time as she could with her family.  Her hobbies were teasing and joking with loved ones, sewing, crafting and creating a warm and loving home for her family as well as lunching with her many special friends and relatives. Connie loved her church and church family. She enjoyed singing in the choir and socializing after church was the highlight of her week.  She absolutely loved her little dog, Sadie.  They were inseparable.  

Friends will be received on Sunday, August 6, 2023, from 1 to 4 pm at the St. John’s Harrold Reformed United Church of Christ, 103 St. John’s Church Road, Greensburg, PA.  Additional visitation will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the church, from 10 until the hour of service at 11 am with Pastor Robert Kruel officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made to Connie’s church, St. John’s Harrold Reformed United Church of Christ.  The family would like to express their thanks to Senior Helpers, VITAS Hospice Health Care, a special friend and St. Anne Home, for the care they provided to Connie.  Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, Greensburg.
