David A. Ludwig passed away suddenly on January 23, 2010. He is survived by his life partner of 15 years, Barbara L. Jones; his son, David A. Jr.: brother, Jonathon J.; grandchildren, Heather Ludwig Smith (Anthony) and Jarred Ludwig; great granddaughter, Amy Nichole Smith; nephews, Christopher A. and Gregory M. Ludwig; aunts and numerous cousins and his cats Henry and Tyler.. He was predeceased by his parents, Wilbur Alois and Mable Marie Ludwig.
David was born in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1946. He was an artist and a graduate (MFA) of Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. He was a collector of panoramic photography with a special interest in industrial archeology and a train enthusiast. He was also an avid reader driven by a deep sense of curiosity. He taught at St. Vincent College, Latrobe and Westmoreland County Community College, Youngwood where he instilled his passion for art in his students.
There will be a memorial service on Wednesday January 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, officiated by Father Rene Kollar.
