David A. Maystrovich, of Greensburg, affectionately known as “Maddog”, passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 3, 2021 at age 61. David was born October 27, 1959 in Jeannette and raised in Wendel. While alive, he touched many hearts. Gifted with an artist’s mind and a playful nature (he raised his share of hell!), David was passionate about woodworking and music his entire life. In recent years, David focused his creative efforts on his poetry, which delighted his readers. David cherished the deep connections he made through his poetry with friends around the world.
David is survived by his daughter Kristen (Jordan); granddaughters Hailey and Melany; brother Michael (Lori); sisters Diane Shupe (Charles) and Cathy Purlee (John); nephews Matthew Shupe (Melissa), Joseph Maystrovich (Victoria), and Ky Mozelewski; nieces Julie Maystrovich, Emily Shupe (Zack), and Sarah Purlee (Dom); great-niece Jana Shupe; and dear friend Darcie Grogan. David was preceded in death by his parents Gertrude E. and Joseph Maystrovich.
We who love David grieve the loss of a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, brother-in-law, great-uncle, and dear friend who was taken from us many years too early.
In light of the pandemic, there will be no funeral ceremony at this time. The family will hold a Memorial Service celebrating David’s life when it is safe to do so. If you would like to honor David’s memory, the family suggests pouring yourself a drink and putting on a quality album.
