David Scott (Scotty) Steele, 61, of Hempfield Township, born December 15, 1953, passed away September 24, 2015 at his home after a courageous two year battle with cancer.
Scott was the son of Dorothy (Dot) Burkholder Steele and the late David K. Steele and loving husband of Donna Metz Steele. In addition to his wife and his mother, Scott is survived by his sister Jeanne (Delver) Smith, sisters-in-law Kathy (Richard) Abercrombie and Bonnie (John) Radomsky, niece Tain (William) Short, and great nieces Adria Schlesman, Cambrie and Carys Short. Scott will be greatly missed by his family and friends especially his lifelong friend Mark (Mape) Schake.
Scott, a 1972 graduate of Hempfield Area, spent his career as a Pipefitter. After retiring, he loved reminiscing about his days of motor cross racing.
Friends and family will be received Monday, September 28, 2015 from 5 - 7 PM at the Kepple Graft Funeral Home with a service immediately following visitation at 7 PM officiated by the Reverend Martin Ankrum.
Interment will be at Westmoreland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions toward the service are appreciated and may be made to the funeral home, and/or memorials may be made to the non-profit organizations Hempfield Area School District Foundation Funds, CFWC/HASD Foundation Funds HASD, 4347 State Route 136, Greensburg, PA 15601; or the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library, 237 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Greensburg, PA 15601.
