Derek J. Shimko, 21 of Greensburg died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at his home.
He was born in Pittsburgh on March 12,1993 and was the son of Edward F. Shimko of Jeannette and Cindy (David) Patterson of Greensburg.
Derek was a graduate of Hempfield High School class of 2011 and was attending W.C.C.C. in the nursing program. He was employed as a Technical Partner with Excela Westmoreland Hospital.
He also was a member of the Youngwood Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Ellen Gonzales.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his brothers, David (Amber) Baker and William (Chrishele) Baker and his maternal grandparents, Harry and Virginia Crosby and a nephew, Spencer J. Baker.
Family and Friends will be received Friday, December 12, 2014, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg.
The Youngwood Volunteer Fire Department will hold a service in the funeral home Friday at 7pm.
Parting prayers will be held in the Funeral Home on Saturday at 10:00 am with Rev. Mike Hazelton officiating.
Interment will follow in the Westmoreland Co. Memorial Park.
