Dixie Dee (McChesney) Osley, of Greensburg, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 in Excela Westmoreland Hospital , Greensburg. .
She was born in Greensburg and was the Daughter of the late John and Dorothy McChesney. She was also preceded in death by her aunt Margaret Jenkins. She is survived by her loving husband Lawrence Osley. She was a vibrant person who loved life , Dixie traveled extensively with her husband and made many friends in the U.S. and Canada, Wales, London and the Cotswold's in England. An avid reader her tastes ranged from mysteries through romances and biographies and nonfiction works in history. Her literary interests brought her the life long friendship of Mollie and Michael Hardwick professional writers who shared with her their love of all that was English. Dixie was a Sherlockian and a participating member of the Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers for many years until her illness curtailed those activities. A member of the SCCA she participated in sports car Races as a track marshal and corner worker. Her love of Jazz fostered friendship with Harold Betters and Mickey Sharp among other local musicians and her Christian Faith was bolstered by Bunny and Wes Kuntz. Other interests included Dolls, and Porcelain. Her love of animals was expressed in her sustaining membership in HSUS and the loving care she gave her cats these past many years. She will be truly missed by her many friends who remember her upbeat and cheery manner in spite of her pain and sickness .
Family and Friends will be received at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 N. Main St. Greensburg, on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
Services will be held on Monday at 11 am in the funeral home with Rev. Wesley Kuntz of the Crossroads Christian Church officiating.
Interment will be in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
