Dolores Irene (Vota) Orlandi, 90, passed away peacefully Friday, September 5, 2014 at home surrounded by her children.
She was born on May 16, 1924 in Blythedale, Pa (McPherson Hill). She was the daughter of the late Peter Vota and Ninnetta Frederick.
She attended Blythedale public schools and graduated from Mckeesport High School in 1942. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Timothy's Roman Catholic Church for over fifty years. She served as an officer and member of the Altar Society that was later made into the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. As President of the Altar Society Dolores participated in the dedication of the new church in 1949. She was also an active member in the Knights of St. George, serving on various committees. She attended the Diocesan Confraternity of Christian Doctrine program and was a certified catechist in 1968 under the seal of Bishop William Connare. She taught the children of the parish for 35 years and spent an additional 20 years serving as the curator of the program. She was an active member in the Greensburg Catholic Women Deanery as well as St. Bruno Parish in Greensburg.
In addition to her parents she is now reunited with her husband Domenick Orlandi, daughter Diane Marie, sister Marie Inserra, brother Norman Vota who was killed in action on July 9, 1944, and son-in-law David McMullan.
Dolores is survived by a son, Norman Orlandi of Madison, Pa; a daughter Denise McMullan of Greensburg; grandchildren, Amy (Michael) Cannon, Domenick (Stephi) McMullan, Nicholas Orlandi, Kelly (Nathaniel) Newsted, Angela Orlandi, Ryan McMullan, and Christopher McMullan; 6 great-grandchildren; nieces Norina Vaira and Liana (Robert) Gaffney; nephews, Dennis Inserra and Brad (Helen) Inserra; as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, Inc., 524 North Main Street Greensburg on Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 AM in St. Bruno Church 1715 Poplar St, Greensburg, PA 15601. Interment will be held in St. Timothy's Cemetery, Smithton.
