Doris Elaine Myers, 74 formerly of 10 N. 6th Street, Youngwood, now of Eden, NC passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 29, 2012.
She was born March 27, 1938 in Greensburg, the oldest daughter of the late James Tobias and Ruth Welker Miller Myers formerly of Youngwood . She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Maude Jane Miller, 106 years young formerly of New Stanton in 1991.
Doris retired from Perfection Photo Co. of Greensburg and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Youngwood where she was active in the choir. While living in Eden, she joined St. Joseph of the Hills Catholic Church . As an avid reader, she volunteered for years at both the Youngwood Area Public Library and the Greensburg Area Public Library. She was a graduate of the last class of Youngwood Senior High School in 1956.
Doris was a member of the National Red Hat Mama's Society, Morehead Chapter.
At a recent "Celebration of Life" party in Doris' honor, she was presented with a certificate of achievement for the longest seated President of the Resident Council of Morehead Nursing Center serving since February 17, 2009 and was still presiding at the time of her death.
She is survived by her two sisters, Ruth Smith and husband, Terry of Eden, NC and Lois Licata and husband, Anthony formerly of Greensburg, now of Eden, NC. Also, a nephew, Johnny Smith and wife, Sara, and two nieces, Missy Coppage and husband, Will of Carolina Beach. NC and Samantha Jo Smith of Eden, and a great niece, Felicity Grace Smith.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home, (an authorized remembrance provider) 524 North Main Street Greensburg, Pennsylvania. where services will be held on Wednesday at 1:30pm with Rev. David Clemente officiating.
Interment will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association or a charity of one's choice.
