Dorothy Bland Anderson, 88, of Jamestown, New York passed away at 1:36 pm Saturday, January 9, 2016, in the Claire Bridge Care Center, Export, Pennsylvania.
A lifelong resident of Jamestown, New York, Dorothy, was born on March 27, 1927, a daughter of the late Roy and Jennie Foster Bland.
She was a 1945 graduate of Jamestown High School and 1948 graduate of the WCA Registered Nurse Program. She worked as a registered nurse for 23 years, retiring from WCA Hospital in 1982.
Dorothy was a lifelong member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, Jamestown, New York, with her husband of fifty years, Gary Anderson. Gary Anderson passed away in December, 2001, only six months after their fiftieth wedding anniversary of June, 1951. Gary Anderson was the son of the late Conrad and Mable Lundahl Anderson. They also were longtime members of the Vikings and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and nurse, who graciously took care of her parents and in-laws in their later years, helped with the grandkids, and enjoyed their Florida retirement in Stuart, Florida.
Surviving are her two daughters, Debbie Anderson Lawry (Don), of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and Kathy Anderson (Jaime), of Dallas, Georgia, four grandchildren, Rachel Lawry of Miami, Florida, Jaida Anderson Holbrook, of Atlanta, Georgia, Telleen Anderson Gegner, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jennifer Lawry Pipes, of Jeanette, Pennsylvania, and one great grandson Alexander Lozano Holbrook of Atlanta, Georgia.
Honoring Dorothy's wishes all services will be private.
