Dorothy Mingle

Dorothy Osterwise Mingle, 100, of Greensburg, passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at Independence Health Westmoreland Hospital. The daughter of Oliver O. and Lucy J. Fox Osterwise, she was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Connellsville. Dorothy grew up in the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Connellsville. She graduated from Connellsville High School with the Class of 1940. While living in Connellsville, she worked as a bookkeeper for Swan's Appliance Store. Dorothy married Frederick William Mingle on Nov. 23, 1946. Mrs. Mingle lived in Greensburg for the past 63 years. She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Greensburg, where she played piano for the Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. Dorothy was also a member of the Eastern Star. Not having children of her own, she loved her nieces and nephews. She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ, so we celebrate her eternal communion with Him and with loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings (and their spouses), Mary (Art) Vorrasi; Lillian (Wilbert) Echard, Olive (Roger) Ulery, Ethel (Roger, Roy)) Huey, Oliver (Janet) Osterwise, Jean (Thomas) Porter; her in-laws and siblings-in-law (and their spouses), Helen (Earl) Schrock, Dorothy (Ralph) Schroyer, Mary (William) Hough, Anna (William) Fulmer, and William (Constance) Mingle, and nephews Howard "Bucky" Huey, and Larry Ulery.  She is survived by nieces, Jane Rossi, Carol Graham, Barbara (Dean) Steiner, Diane Osterwise, Linda Jacobs, Donna (Kevin) Witt and Susan (Doug) Manhire; nephews, Roger (Jean) Ulery, and Dennis (Kathy) Porter; great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N.
