Douglas W. Smith, 59 of Greensburg passed away, Friday, May 15, 2015 at West Penn Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born in Beaumont, TX on February 10, 1956 a son of Virginia Metzger Smith and the late Barney McCoy Smith.
Douglas attended Charter Oak Methodist Church and was a member of Kiwanis Club. He also volunteered at Meals on Wheels.
He was a college professor of Physics who had taught at several different campuses.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Greg Nixon.
Surviving are Cheryl Smith, his mother, Virginia, sons, Benjamin Smith and Michael Smith, a daughter, Jennifer Smith, sister, Diana Smith Nixon, and brother, Kenneth Woodward Smith.
He was a loving father who will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11am at Charter Oak United Methodist Church, 449 Frye Farm Road, Greensburg.
