Dr. Frank S. Bryan, 79, of Greensburg, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at Kindred Northshore Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born in Masontown and was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Martin) Bryan. Frank was a graduate of Davidson and Elkin's College class of 1953, received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, class of 1957, and had interned at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. He later was the Naval medical officer in Morocco from 1958 to 1961. Dr. Bryan began to practice in Carlisle as a general practitioner in 1963. He started an orthopedics residency at the University of Pennsylvania from 1966 to 1967 and completed training at the University of West Virginia in 1971. He then returned to Carlisle to practice orthopedics until his retirement in 2000. He was a clinical instructor in orthopedic surgery for the Hershey Medical Center from 1971 to 1995. He managed adult and pediatric disability evaluations for the state and federal offices of SSI in Greensburg from 2001 to 2011. Dr. Bryan was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg and also the American Medical Association, St. John's Masonic Lodge 260 in Carlisle, VFW, American Legion, professional music guild and Jeannette Rotary. Surviving are his loving wife, Sally Bryan; children, Patty McGrath, of Alexandria, Va., David, of Danville, and Brad, of Greensburg; three grandchildren, Thomas, Kelly and Charles David; a brother, Nevin, of Masontown; and sister, Betsy Jo Sadtler, of Fairfax, Va. Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg (an authorized remembrance provider). Additional viewing will take place from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Presbyterian Church in Masontown, where the Valley Lodge 459 F&AM will hold a Masonic service at 11:45 a.m. A funeral service will take place at noon with the Rev. Dr. Douglas E. Holben officiating. Interment will follow in the McClellandtown Presbyterian Church Cemetery with military honors.
