Edith Laverne (Junger) Degentesh, died suddenly at her home in Redstone Highlands, Greensburg on Monday evening, October 17, 2011 at the age of 92.
She was born December 2, 1918 in Milwaukee, WI to Osbert Junger and Nettie (Healey) Junger.
Edith was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greensburg. She graduated from South Division High School in Milwaukee, WI in 1937. During her life she was active as a leader for Cub Scouts and Brownies, various organizations in her church and served as school secretary for the Franklin School District. She lived in North Lake, IL; Beloit, WI; Murrysville, PA; Seminole, FL; and Sierra Vista, AZ; returning to PA and settling at Redstone in 2000.
Left to cherish her memories are her children William Degentesh and wife Susanne, Pasadena, MD; Sandra Maki and husband Terrance, Fort Mill, SC;
Thomas Degentesh and wife Linda, Greensburg, PA; Audrey Wainwright and husband Jim of Altoona, PA; and Amy Lachmanek and husband Paul of St. David, AZ; also are 11 grandchildren, Katie Degentesh, Kristina Degentesh Stallings and husband Brad; Gwendolyn Degentesh Mravaca and husband Mike, Laura Maki Norris and husband David, John Maki, Diane Maki Higens and husband Randy, Drew Degentesh and wife Tracey, Jenifer Wainwright Heffern and husband Brendan, Nora Wainwright and spouse, Whitney, Barbara Lachmanek and Vicki Lachmanek, four great grandchildren Emily Norris, Kaitlyn Higens, Wyatt Stallings and Megan Kelly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norbert Emil Degentesh in 2002, three brothers Erwin, Milton and Albert Junger, and a sister Dorothy Junger Anderson.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 3-8 PM at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME (an authorized remembrance provider) 524
North Main St., Greensburg. A Prayer service will be held Friday at 9:30 AM at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, Greensburg with Msgr. Raymond Riffle celebrant.
Interment will follow in the St. Johns United Church of Christ Cemetery in Middle Churches, Westmoreland County.
