Edith Smith

February 2, 1932 — December 9, 2015

Edith "Lydee" K. Smith, 83, of New Alexandria, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving husband and family.

She was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Harry R. and Helen (Sarver) Kepple.

She was a lifelong homemaker and dairy farmer, working side by side with her husband and family. She loved cooking and baking for her large family and many friends who were always welcome. Love and laughter and the smell of food cooking always filled her home. She was a special person to all who knew her and will be sorely missed. Lydee was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ in Greensburg.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert E. Smith Jr., of New Alexandria; her three sons, Robert T. Smith and wife, Donna, of Greensburg, William R. Smith and wife, Carol, of New Alexandria, and Kenneth L. Smith and wife, Brenda, of New Alexandria; daughter, Carolyn S. Ryan and Joseph, of Greensburg, and a daughter-in-law, Denise S. Smith, of Greensburg; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Robert Kepple and wife, Leonora, of New Alexandria, and her dogs, Penny and Peanut.

The family wishes a special thanks to her caregivers, Doris and Debbie.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Kepple and his wife, Ada.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Congruity Presbyterian Church, 136 Fenneltown Road, New Alexandria. Everyone please go directly to the church.

Interment will be at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
