Edith A. "Edie" Taurish, 85, of Greensburg, a faithful witness of the love and kindness of God, left her temporary home on earth to take up permanent residence with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday April 26, 2015, in Westmoreland Manor. She was born on May 1, 1929 in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Edgar C. and Sarah Fern (Collier) Altman. Edie was a member of Alpha Ministries, Inc., where she was involved in many of the church's activities. Prior to retirement, she was an administrator to the president of Westinghouse later known as Powerex, with 52 years of service. At one time, she sang with the Sweet Adelines. Edie was the last survivor of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Taurish; brothers, Edgar, Jerry and Ernest Altman; sisters, Loretta Altman, Hazel McKee, Marian Kleiner and Gladys Zelinsky and great nephew, Edgar Bert. She is survived by her nieces, Carol Krupar (Brian), Cheryl Bert, Beverly Speer (Kevin); nephews, Charles Kleiner and Matthew Mawhinney (Julianne Trichtinger); great nephews, Brad "B.J." and Douglas Mawhinney (Amanda); a great niece, Jayme Krupar; 2 great great nieces, Gwendolyn and Rosalie Mawhinney; also, a sister-in-law, Kathryn Altman. A funeral service for Edie will be held at 11am on Friday at Alpha Ministries, Inc., 231 Pleasant Valley Road, Greensburg, PA. Family will greet friends at the conclusion of the funeral service.
