Edward L. Collins, 83 of Greensburg, passed away, Monday, January 27, 2014 in Greensburg.
He was born in Wall, PA on November 17, 1930 the son of the late Roy and Anna Vavra Collins and was raised in Pitcairn where he was graduated from Pitcairn High School in 1948.
He was graduated in 1953 from Waynesburg College in Waynesburg, PA. From 1953 to 1955 he served on active duty as a 1st Lt. with the USMC and then until 1962 with the USMCR.
In 1961, he received his Masters Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Ed spent his career in finance and production with US Steel Corporation both in Pittsburgh and New York City and then with White Consolidated Industries of Cleveland, OH where he worked in their Blaw-Knox companies both in Pittsburgh and throughout the East coast. In 1985, he became President of Duraloy Inc. in Scottdale, PA before forming Collins and Assoc., a consulting company.
Ed served as a Deacon and Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg and was an active member of SCORE at St. Vincent College. He was a member of Greensburg Country Club and a past member of Latrobe Country Club.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary Jane Naser Collins; two sons, Edward L. II of McLean, VA; and Kipp A. (Jodie) and a granddaughter, Brooke, all of McKinney, TX. He is also survived by a niece, Sandy Carmack Rocco, of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Family and friends will be received from 4-7 pm on Wednesday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home 524 North Main Street Greensburg.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 am. with Rev. Martin Ankrum officiating.
Interment will follow in the Brush Creek Cemetery.
