Eleanor Steel

Eleanor M. Steel, 91 of Hannastown, died, Sunday, May 07, 2017 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital.  She was born on January 14, 1926, a daughter of the late David T. and Laura Betler Steel.  Eleanor was a lifelong member of Church of the Brethren, Greensburg, where she was a member of the Koinonia Karolerers.   Prior to retirement, Eleanor was an administrative secretary for Greensburg Salem School District for over 45 years.  She was considered the family historian and loved to tell stories.  She was involved with and supported her many cousins.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Marie and infant brother, Harvey.   Eleanor is survived by her friends, Sherry Boskey and Doug Fordyce, who looked after her in her later years; and, several cousins; also, her extended family for the past 2 years, Frank and Elgin Panichelle and all the residents and workers at Carmella’s House Personal Care Home in Crabtree.  Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg.  Eleanor’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Lisa J.
