Ellen Greiner

June 23, 1937 — October 1, 2013

Ellen Marker Greiner passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 1, 2013 at Excela Latrobe Hospital. She was born June 23, 1937, daughter of the late Henry E. Marker, Jr. and Mary Ruffner Marker.

Ellen loved her faith, her family and her friends. She was gracious to all who met her. Ellen was a graduate of Greensburg High School and Seton Hill College, where she proudly worked in various roles in alumni relations and development, most recently as Director of Alumni Relations, until her retirement in 2009. She cherished the friendships with fellow alumni and the relationships forged with the Sisters of Charity during her more than thirty year career at Seton Hill.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Henry E. Marker III, her infant daughter, Mary Marker Greiner and her sister-in-law, Betty Jean Sunder.
She is survived by the "love of her life", her husband of 54 years, John W. (Jack) Greiner, son, John K. Greiner and wife, Nadine, daughter, Ellen Greiner Griffin and husband, Steve, daughter, Lisa Greiner Warner and husband, Jeff, beloved grandchildren Mara, Ian, and Emma Greiner, Hannah, and Jake Griffin and Jack, Luke, and Kate Warner. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Richard A. Sunder and several nieces and nephews.

Her family wishes to thank dear friends Helene Paharik, Monsignor Lawrence Kiniry and Father Stephen West, as well as the staff at Excela Latrobe Hospital for their support.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home, (an authorized remembrance provider) 524 North Main Street Greensburg.

A prayer service will be held on Friday starting at 9am in the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 9:30am at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral.
Interment will follow in the St. Clair Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ellen's memory to the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill, DePaul Center, 144 DePaul Center Road Greensburg, PA 15601 or to Seton Hill University, One Seton Hill Drive, Greensburg, PA 15601.
