Emil Michael Kuhar, 61, of Greensburg, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at his home, embraced by family and friends.
He was born August 20, 1956 in Charleroi, the son of the late Emil Joseph and Anna Huzway Kuhar.
Emil was a 1974 graduate of Charleroi High School and a 1978 graduate of La Roche College in Pittsburgh. He was inducted into La Roche’s Distinguished Alumni Circle in 2013, its inaugural year. For over 20 years, Emil owned his own photography and design firm, Emil Kuhar Visual Communications, providing print media and photography services to the Western Pennsylvania area. Previously, Emil was employed by Malloy’s Cameracade and Studio 2.
Before the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 2005, Emil enjoyed cycling and was an active volunteer. He designed t-shirts, brochures, and newsletters for charitable groups, and fundraised extensively for the National MS Society. He said, "Volunteering to the best of one's ability is a reward in itself."
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Debbie Kovacik Kuhar, daughter, Elisa R. Kuhar and her partner, Dominic Housiaux, brother-in-laws, Bill and Peter Kovacik, and the rest of the Kuhar, Huzway, Shepelak, Kovacik, and Reich families, as well as his extended family of steadfast friends. Emil had an incredible sense of humor and loved spending time with family and friends. He appreciated everything that everyone did to support him on his MS journey.
Emil's family would like to extend a word of thanks to the Excela Westmoreland Hospital 6th floor ICU doctors, nurses, therapists, and staff for their comforting care and kindness during Emil’s hospital stay.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 16 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg.
A funeral memorial will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, May 17 at 11am.
Interment will follow in the St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg.
