Evelyn G. Richter, 93, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her residence at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg on Thursday, Sept.29, 2016 surrounded by her children.

She was born on May 10, 1923 in Apollo to the late Ethel and Ralph Geiger and grew up on the family farm with her four brothers and one sister. She lived her entire life in western Pennsylvania, including 59 years as a resident of Greensburg.

Evelyn was married in 1948 to William Abel Richter who passed away in 1995. Married for 46 years, they enjoyed golfing together at Hannastown Golf Club, playing cards with various clubs, and traveling with family and friends throughout the US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

She was an active long-time member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church located in West Point, Greensburg where she taught Sunday School for a number of years and served many with her time in the Women’s Group and Chat “N Sew. Evelyn also volunteered in the community through Meals on Wheels and at Westmoreland Hospital.

Surviving are her daughters Ann Reidmiller (son-in-law Alan) and Karen Richter; son Bruce Richter (daughter-in-law Janice); grandchildren Jenna Richter, Stephen Reidmiller, Mark Reidmiller and Benjamin Reidmiller; brother Harold Geiger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evelyn had a gift for friendship, service and style, and will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 5 to 8pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg.

Services will be held on Monday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 501 Fairfield Drive, Greensburg at 11am with Rev. Frank Podolinski officiating (Everyone please go directly to church).

Entombment will follow in the St. Clair Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or to Redstone Highlands Benevolent Fund 6 Garden Center Drive, Greensburg, PA 15601.
