Frances E. Slodownick, 101, of Greensburg, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2011. She was the loving wife of the late Carl Slodownick; the beloved mother of Cheryl Woods; devoted grandmother of Lydia Woods; and dear sister to the late Ruth, Della, Myrtle, Mildred and brother, Firman. She was a loving aunt to Donna Shepard, Judy Brooks and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who survive her. As a young woman, Frances worked at the Erie Hammermill paper company for several years before marrying Carl and moving with him to Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Uniontown, where he managed Knight's Life Insurance (American General) offices. Frances held her parents, the late Edna and Nicholas Louis, close to her heart throughout her long life. She will be greatly missed by her daughter and granddaughter and other friends and relatives. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Calvary Cemetery Chapel with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, 3325 West Lake Road, Erie.
