George R. “Crazy George” Smith, 65, of Greensburg, died Sunday, March 5, 2017, at his home. He was born in Baltimore, MD on December 27, 1951, a son of the late John T. Smith and Mary S. Fowler Smith. Prior to retirement, he was a groundskeeper for OTW Tool Company, Inc. of Latrobe. He was a Vietnam veteran serving with the Army. He was a member of D.A.V. and volunteered for the Red Cross after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. George is survived by his brothers and a sister, Donald (Peggy) Smith, Jim Smith and Mary Lynn King, all of Greensburg; nephews, Eric Smith and partner Kevin, Eron Smith, Dominick Mash (Lani) and Arlo King (Heather); his niece, Theresa Miller (Chris); also, several great nieces and nephews. As per the family wishes, there will be no visitation. A gathering of family and friends will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Falbo’s Restaurant, Latrobe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517. Arrangements are under the direction of Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, Greensburg.
