George Taylor

George Henry Taylor, 88, of Greensburg passed away peacefully Monday, December 9, 2013 in The Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Greensburg comforted by his family. He was born October 13, 1925, in Greensburg , a son of the late George Henry Taylor Sr. and Violet (Martin) Taylor. He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1943 and then spent three years in the United States Navy during World War II. George then attended the University of Pittsburgh graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. His entire career was spent with the former R & IE/ITE, now ABB, circuit breaker company in South Greensburg and Columbia, South Carolina. He retired from ABB in 1986. George was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg and enjoyed fishing, golfing, and bowling. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years Isabelle McRae Taylor, four children: Barbara Taylor Rickel and husband, Edmund, of Bridgeville, Lawrence David Taylor of Bucks County, Douglas George Taylor and wife, Cynthia, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and David William Taylor and wife, Chris Anne, of Greensburg, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and his sister Margaret (Taylor) Haines of Greensburg.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate George's life from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm on Wednesday at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 North Main Street, Greensburg. Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 m nam with Rev. Martin Ankrum officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg, 300 South Main Street, Greensburg, PA 15601.
