Gerald R. Sample, 80 of Greensburg passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010 in Oakhill Nursing Center, Hempfiled Twp..
He was born in Aliquippa on 7/24/1929 and was the Son of the late Fred C. and Hazel A. Carl Sample .
Gerald served in the Navy during the Korean War and was a retired outside plant accountant supervisor for the Allegheny Energy in Greensburg.
Gerald is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Greensburg and the Kittanning Masonic Lodge #244.
He was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Kittanning and while there he was a Lay Leader, Past President and teacher for the Young Adult Sunday School Class and former Superintendent of the Sunday School. He was the first President of Planned Parenthood in Kittanning, a former treasurer for West Penn Power Credit Union at Kiski and Past President and treasurer for the Allegheny Energy Federal Credit Union in Greensburg.
Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years Elaine Grace Sample and two daughters Geralyn Ann Sample-Nicholson of Delmont and Jacquelyn Elaine Sample-Sabbe of Brighton, Co. and his sister Dolores Thomas of Aspers, Pa. along with five nieces and one nephew.
Family and Friends will be received at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, 524 N. Main Street Greensburg, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 am in the funeral home.
Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
