Gladys Darling

September 14, 1918 — July 16, 2012

Dr. Gladys Ramm Darling, 93, formerly of Northport, NY, passed away, Sunday, July 15, 2012 in Emeritus at Latrobe.

She was born September 14, 1918 in Saskatchewan, Canada , daughter of the late Emel and Mary Torgrimson.

Prior to retirement, she was a School Psychologist for Harborfields School District on Long Island. She was also the director of Christian education at St. Paul Methodist Church in Northport, NY. Once she retired she pursued photography and writing which included publication in the New York Times.

Gladys was a member of Charter Oak United Methodist Church in Greensburg and she belonged to the National Education Association.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husbands, Rev. Robert F. Ramm in 1960 and Van Ness Darling in 1983.

Surviving are her son, Dr. Douglas R. Ramm and his wife, Barbara of Greensburg; grandchildren, Jennifer Ramm Reinert and husband, Chris of Largo , FL, and Jessica Ramm, Esquire of Tampa, FL; great granddaughter, Belle' Marie Reinert of Largo FL; brother, Henry Torgrimson of Tacoma, WA, and sister, Olive Lee and husband , Chuck of Albuquerque, NM.

Honoring Gladys' wishes there will be no public visitation.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Charter Oak Church, 449 Frye Farm Road, Greensburg on Saturday August 4th, 2012 at 11 am officiated by Rev. Donna Gabler.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the The ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease) Foundation in honor of Daniel Soyka, Tampa Florida Chapter, 3242 Parkside Center Circle, Tampa FL 33619.
