Gordon P. "Gordy" Hatch, 81, of Greensburg, went to be with his Lord in his Eternal Kingdom on Saturday, November 28, 2009. He was born August 12, 1928, in Syracuse, NY, son of the late Paul J. and Geraldine Hatch.
He was a graduate of Meadville High School and attended Houghton College in NY. Later, Gordon earned his printing degree through a 6 year apprenticeship and went on to be a newspaper printer at the Tribune Review in Meadville, PA and subsequently spent most of his career as foreman for the Jeannette New Dispatch. After his career as a printer, Gordon worked at Westmoreland Hospital as a Security Guard for a number of years. He was a strong man and will be remembered by his family as a hard worker, always loving us and providing for us.
Gordon was a member of the Greensburg Alliance Church for more than 50 years, where he attended faithfully, encouraged others to live for Christ, and where people will forever remember him for making them feel loved and welcome. Gordon's life was about selflessly taking care of his family and encouraging those around him. His genuine kindness and his delightful sense of humor will be missed by all. He enjoyed an active outdoor lifestyle whether it was fishing, hunting, gardening, or just simply mowing the lawn on his tractor.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Rachel A. Hatch; a son, Paul Gordon Hatch, of Youngwood; a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Davidson and her husband Glenn of Greensburg; a sister Martha M. Gilmore and her husband James; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gordon is predeceased earlier this year by a sister, Betty Louise Rounds. He also leaves behind his granddog "Harley" from whom he always enjoyed a visit and a kiss.
Our future will be very different without you and you will be greatly missed but not forgotten by all that knew you and loved you.
The Hatch Family would like to recognize and express our sincere appreciation to all of the caregivers and employees of Redstone Highlands Skilled Nursing Facility for the excellent and compassionate care he received while a resident there for nearly 3 years.
Family and Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 Pm in the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home 524 N. Main St. Greensburg. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:30 am with Rev. Dr. D. Roy Dail officiating. Private interment will be in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
Contributions in Gordon's memory may be made to the Greensburg Alliance Church, 4428 Route #136, Greensburg, Pa. 15601.
