Helen S. Casper, 103, passed away April 21, 2015 at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village in Lewisburg, PA
Born on July 28, 1911 in Pittsburgh, Helen was one of nine children born to Theodore and Sava Kosanovich .
She and her husband lived in Greensburg most of her life. Helen was an active member of the First Christian Church and the William E. Gelston Chapter of the Eastern Star, and also volunteered at the Westmoreland Hospital Auxiliary and the Home for the Elderly Senior Center. She was an avid gardener and flower arranger, as well as an excellent seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Daniel W. Casper.
Surviving are her daughters, Nancy C. (Robert) Strosnider, Winchester, KY and Carole C. (James) Friery, Lewisburg; grandchildren, Janelle Allen (Steve Gallob) of Rowlett, TX, Judy Strosnider of Lexington, Ky, John Friery (Margaret), Pleasant Praire, WI, Heidi Keller (Steven), Carmel, CA, Timothy (Kathleen), Lewisburg, Sarah (Stephen) Miller, State College; eight great grandchildren, Blaise, Brenda and Eileen Friery, Allison and Brian Friery, and Connor, Anna, and Julia Miller, as well as three great great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Dorothy Zunich, Carmel, IN, Virginia Maples, York, PA and Anna (Clarke) Hamilton, Fort Myers, FL and numerous nieces and nephews
Family and friends will be received at the First Christian Church, Greensburg on Thursday from 11am until the funeral service at 1pm.
William E. Gelston Chapter #435 of the Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a service at 12:30pm.
Interment will follow in the St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg.
