Jack D. Tapper, Sr. 78, of Greensburg, passed away, Friday, November 25, 2011 in Excela Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born June 4, 1933 in Blairsville a son of the late Herman and Helen (Shipley) Tapper.
Jack retired as a Journeyman Union Carpenter. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Greensburg and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Army with the medic mountain rescue attaining the rank of Corporal. Jack was a family man and enjoyed hunting and wood working.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Tapper, Jr. and a sister, Norma Charmly.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kay Tapper; three children, Yvonne Butina and husband Ed; Kimberly Tapper and Jack Tapper, Jr. ; eight grandchildren, Ed, Emily, Jackie, Lauren Edmunds and husband Jeff; Kristen, Allyna, Haley and Jacob; a great-grandson, Jace; his brothers, Paul Tapper, Jim Tapper and wife Shirley; Bob Tapper; Don Tapper and wife Karen; his sisters, Eleanor Young; Doris George; Mona Lee Riddle and Carol Dwyer and husband Paul; numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful pet, Tuko.
Family and friends will be received in the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, INC. 524 Main St. Greensburg (an Authorized Remembrance Provider) on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm where services will be held at 10:30 am. Interment with military honors bestowed by VFW Post 33 will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. Terence L. Graft, funeral director, entrusted with the arrangements.
